Say "Hi!" to Licorish, a newly refurbished beach-house located two doors up from historic Fort Bennett point, overlooking beautiful Stonehaven Bay.
"Open Sesame" and the giant-sized gate slides over to reveal a thoughtfully put together escape from today's world, where any sort of fanciness or overindulgence has deliberately been shunned. The simplicity of furnishings is there to soothe, for busyness to be overcome. From the shabby chic feel of the uncluttered interior, you emerge, readied to behold Nature's spectacular theatre, complete with birdsong, tropical sunsets and warm breezes.

Rate varies according to the number of persons and length of visit. Minimum stay of 3 nights required in non-holiday period; during holiday period further restrictions may be applicable.

Everything I needed
Licorish By the Sea is in the most beautiful location! Black Rock provides visitors with easy access to great local bars and restaurants. With steps down to your own private cove for some great snorkelling. The view across Stonehaven Bay is incredible.
The villa has 3 well appointed ensuite bedrooms with good quality linens, comfortable beds and great showers.
The security at the villa is great, with a large gate and wall on the street side, gated windows and doors, and a security fence on the sea side. However it is in a very safe part of Tobago. You can open all of the windows to create a cross breeze to help the fans cool the sitting room and kitchen.
The gardens are well maintained with mango trees dripping with fruit and a huge variety of wildlife on display - we saw hummingbirds, iguanas and lots of other wildlife.
Gillian's communication was great and she facilitated a late check out for our evening flight. Jamie and Colin were on site and very helpful.

Wonderful stay!
Wonderful villa. Location is great if you are looking for peace and quiet. Can't beat the natural sounds of the ocean and wildlife. Gillian is an excellent host and helped ensure our stay was perfect. Highly recommend this villa.

Perfect getaway location
Licorish is the perfect getaway location. The house is exactly as pictured, and is better stay a while. Complete amenities, breath-taking views, clean, secure and private are just some of the things this place boasts. It's just a hop and skip from restaurants and other activities and we especially enjoyed the walkway to the cove. Gillian was also a great, communicative and prompt host. We will definitely be staying again and directing our friends and family to Licorish for their stays as well.

A Gracious Host
Gillian was most certainly a gracious host who ensured a clean space. The house itself was a little piece of island paradise and a local feel of home. To the front you are greeted with a variety of lush seasonal local fruit trees that you may pick to your heart’s desire. The view from the communal living area opens its doors that takes your senses to a place of both peace and excitement. There are small groceries/ shops close by where you can pick up anything you need and there is a public beach in walking distance is you feel the need to leave your private bay (that comes with Gillian’s place) to venture off. I’ve been to many houses in Tobago but this is certainly one that has all conveniences close by, all the amenities I needed and a superb host. I will definitely be returning.

Licorish by the Sea is splendidly set and secure!
Gillian and her crew take great care of their guests and the house. We have stayed in many houses and this was in the top and all the provisions you could need were there. The house itself is well located but we barely wanted to leave. We spent our days enjoying the beautiful views and bird watching from the terrace with the pool perfect for cooling down. The private little cove was perfect to pop down for some casual snorkeling. It was just my me and my husband but it's a good set up for 2 couples and still a room for kids. We highly recommend this rental.

Perfect host for the perfect house
Gillian was the perfect host for the perfect house 'licorish.' As a host, she went above and beyond in making sure our stay was seamless, as well as was a great help in navigating the area. She even offered transportation to the airport, which turned out to be quite necessary in a country where taxi culture is still coming along. The house was PERFECT - and the private beach access opened up to a great spot on the sea where snorkeling and diving conditions were great. I highly recommend this house and all the pleasures it can bring.

Fantastic View
Wow...what a fantastic view looking out from the Licorish House. The pictures on the web site do not do it justice. My husband and I and daughter age 13 came from Texas, USA to visit my brother, his wife and daughter age 11 who are living in Port of Spain, Trinidad. First off we had a fantastic stay in POS but finished our visit at Licorish House in Tobago. We stayed 3 nights from March 12, 2015. Gillian and her staff were very prompt with having a driver waiting to pick up the 6 of us at the airport. The driver was also kind enough to bring us to the grocery store on the way to Licorish house to pick up food supplies. When the gate opened at Licorish house we were plesantly surprised at how nice the view and landscape was. The house was neat and clean. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The deck was perfect for relaxing. Plunge pool very nice. We were able to walk down steps from the back into our private entrance to the water. There is a good snorkeling spot about 50 feet from the steps. In summary, I would recommend a stay at Licorish House. I only wish we lived closer so we could go more often.
